On May 6,2026 we were docked at Germersheim (Viking Hild) and according to our daily schedule, we were to be back on the boat 6:15pm.
Imagine our shock when we saw our boat had left AT 6:07!
I was unable to get any calls to go through because I didn’t know to dial the “+” first. I learned this eventually from a very helpful German ( one of many) and was able to reach our program director who told us to take a cab to the Hilton where we sat until the Captain and ?(first mate )came to get us at 12:30 am. They were apologetic as was the program director-initially. When we asked to have to cab fare reimbursed, they agreed, but when we asked to have dinner reimbursed they acted like that was an outrageous request. Then the blame got shifted to us because we didn’t call them right away! I thought the room card reader would have made it clear we weren’t on board. The program director (Emma) stated they didn’t leave early, but so many of the other guests noticed the early departure. AND THE BOAT WAS GONE at 6:07.
So bad enough to leave 2 elderly people, who don’t know the language, at the port, but blame us and not even reimburse for our dinners.
I have nightmares about this event.
Customer service-nonexistent.
Never again.
