Sun Country Airlines review: Inconsistent in following posted policy rules

The week of March 8th, the weather service started talking about a huge winter storm that was to come thru on Sunday, March 15th. We had 6 plane tickets for the island of St. Thomas. Each day more snow and hazard conditions were predicted. On Wed. the 11th, we got nervous enough to look into changing our flight, knowing Sun Country only flys on certain days, and St. Thomas being a small airport. We called asking what the plans maybe and no one could help us! So we went ahead and changed our flight to Saturday, the 14th. Then on Thursday, the 12th, at 9:00 am, less than 24 hours that we had made our change, Sun Country announced that they would accept changes . And yes it said any changes made before 9am on the 12th were out of luck! I do understand rules! But we tried to find out what we could do, with no help, and we know for a fact, that someone did get a refund after a change was made! The change was made on the 12th, but it was for a different destination, one of the rules on the announcement”must be same destination” . She was refunded $900 with all of two quick texts! If rules are rules, then follow them, and educate your staff to assist with questions about weather issues and possible changes! This change cost us a LOT of money! It ended up costing my daughter $6500 for 4 tickets! Ours was for two, and the amount doubled. She could have flown Delta first class for that. Which will probably it be our choice next time.
So my complaint would be, not even listening to our situation and knowing that you did make an “exception” to your rules, yet telling us over and over, there are NO exceptions. Needless to say, it will be a long time, if ever, we will use Sun Country again.

Desired outcome: Refund for at least the change fee.
