Burger King served a raw whopper, filthy restaurant, terrible service

Should be awarded "The Dirtiest Fast Food Restaurant on the East Coast."

Worst experience in a fast food restaurant ever! As a matter of fact it was so bad I will never step foot in a BK again. This place ruined it for me. Here is the order of mishaps. It's long...

1- No AC on July 11th
2- One cashier/order person. (slow one, too)
3- Filthy conditions. Didn't even want to touch anything in bathroom. Restaurant was no better, trash scattered all over the floor, counters, tables, etc. EVERY table was dirty! Ketchup splattered on the doors, trash cans and front counter. Just plain nasty. (should have left after seeing that)
4-Waited in line for 20 min. to place order.
5-Took another 10 to get food.
6-Was served a raw Whopper (Yup, totally raw on one side)
7- After trying to return was given $1.45 back instead of price paid. Had to argue to get total amount back. Had to involve cashier & 2 mngrs. to get it straight. Took 15 MINUTES to get this straight with lots of arguing and trying to give me back the wrong amount again.
8- NO apology from cashier or Asst. mngr. Finally got an apology from mngr. after he overheard me saying "not even so much as an apology." He said "You're right mam, I apologize, give the woman back all her money. We're in the business of helping customers, not arguing with them. I've been up here 4 times and I have other customers. etc. etc. Just give her the money and move on." (Why he didn't tell them that to begin with or the asst. mngr couldn't have done that is beyond me)
He then said keep the other food on us. I told him I wouldn't dare to eat it and would be stopping somewhere else for food.
9- While I was trying to return the food I told the asst. mngr. how filthy the rest. was, how horrible the service was and how hot it was in there. He ignored me, completely. Didn't even respond. It was as if I wasn't even talking.

They simply do not care. This rest. should be shut down. It's gross. I've never seen a fast food rest. this dirty. And I've lived & traveled all over.

So to recap... I spent 45 min.(55 counting bathroom time) in this place and left after being argued with, ignored and treated like total dirt, only to have to find another place for food. (McDonalds-which took all which ended up being chips and sunflower seeds at a reststop since we were traveling and couldn't waste a bunch of more time)

Oh, yeah. I also ruined my shirt because I accidently leaned against the counter and noticed after we were down the road that the front of my shirt was covered with ketchup. Maybe the stains will come out, maybe not. But it is just ridiculous.

The WORST customer service experience I have ever had, by far. I'm tempted to make a web pg. dedicated totally to spreading the word. But who has the time? I just will give my business to other rest. who act like they give a crap.
No wonder why MCD's has taken over.
Customer service is important BK!
Have it your way? NOT!
My way is cooked thoroughly, and in less than 20 minutes. (more than reasonable for FAST FOOD)

This was like a watching a 3 Stooges episode. The blind leading the blind. They had no idea how to do a return and needed 3 heads to figure it out and still had to be shown on the receipt how much we paid and have it spelled out to them how much we should get back. Which is totally ridiculous anyway. They should have offered me double my money back instead of half. So they risked losing many customers (via bad reviews and word of mouth) in order to save a couple bucks. I am a very loyal consumer and will go back and will spread the word if I get great service. However, on the other hand when I am treated like this I make a point of telling anyone and everyone who will listen. I mean, who likes wasting their money or eating rotten uncooked food? There were people behind me waiting to return food as well. I live near DC and the fast food places where are very clean and I have never received service like this.

I have also worked as a mystery shopper for restaurants and apartments and written many reviews. Any manager of a rest. should be aware those people are out there.

Called the consumer number on website. Sat on hold for 10 min then got a recording saying leave a message & they'll call you back. I'd be shocked if I get a call back.
There's a reason why there's no email address on the website. I'm sure they wouldn't be able to keep up with the complaint letters.

This has gotten so out of hand and off topic. I simply wanted to post a review/complaint to warn others about this establishment. I guess I should have done a little reading first.

After going over the history of some of these people (Brenda, Stealth, etc.) I can see that people are using this "complaints board" as a sounding board to attack each other and post stupid comments that have nothing to do with the topic on hand.
There are some that are just talking back and forth to each saying childish things. I assumed it was what the title says, where we could post complaints about a product or service.
I can see this is not the place for that because it has attracted some very angry and rather nasty, childish people.
To those of you who wrote comments directed at the issue, and did not come here simply to attack, thank you.

I'm moving on to actual review sites and my own website where I can stay on topic.

And to Brenda, I actually have a great sense of humor. I just wasn't aware that this was supposed to be a place for that. Again, silly me...

Thank you trackster. You are correct in your comments. I too have worked for Wendy's and McD and those conditons would never be acceptable. My early work days were all in rest. and would never have stayed at a place like that.

As for calling corp. did that. Put on hold for 10 min. left message. no return call. There is no email address either. I don't think they want to know about this. I guess the only thing one can do is write reviews and call the health dept.
Writing a review is imp. to warn others. I appreciate it when others do that.

Directed at Stealth Pilot...

I should have read your history before responding. I would have saved myself some aggravation. I can see that you have spent a lot of your time going on MANY opinions/complaints and disagreeing with everyone. You are obviously one of those holier than though, opinionated, military types who loves to throw your weight around. (issues as a child perhaps, something to prove.)
Every single comment of yours you side with "the man" coming down on people. I'd love to be like you. You sound perfect. If only we could all be like you. I also wish I had the time you obviously have to spread your vast wisdom to all of us in the world. You have never disagreed with any establishment, store, bank, etc. It must be wonderful to be you. You've never had anything bad happen to you and we are all wrong. Makes one wonder why you are on here at all if life is so perfect.
I also noticed you dislike our president. Figures. I know your type. So continue on your crusade of setting us all straight.
I wish you some peace because you obviously don't have much.

So obviously an employee. Maybe we should be expected to wipe clean the tables after eating or carry a broom or toilet scrubber with us, according to your logic. NASTY CUSTOMERS! Yes, that is the problem. Surely. We should try to be neater. That place looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a wk. Come on now. I truly wish I'd taken pictures.

Enjoy your career at BK.
These were not messes like someone came in and just trashed the place. It was obvious it hadn't been cleaned all day or possibly all wk. ###. EVERY table was dirty. And crusted on ketchup on the walls? Since when is this acceptable? I don't know where you eat but where I live (DC) I have never seen a FF rest. in such conditions. Maybe people just care about their health more here.
It should be expected customers may leave behind crumbs, and some dirtiness after eating. Is your table spotless at home after eating? That is why you CLEAN it after. That is what is expected when you go in a rest. I am not an uppity, neat freak, by any means. So I was not being extra picky. I frequent fast food places and overlook some messiness. It's expected.
I've worked in these places too. So if I"m saying the entire place was dirty from top to bottom, it is not an eggageration. Sorry I hit a sore spot with the employees. That is to be expected.

This goes beyond being respectful, maybe you should read better, trash on the floor, counters AND table, Ketchup was splattered on the doors and trashcans, and the front counter. If you walked in would you not be disgusted? Or would you start throwing all the trash away and start cleaning the ketchup off of everything?

I didn't know it took nuclear scientist's to have figure something like that out. Your so right, I would hate for the employee to have to do their job. God forbid that. But get this I'm the one that is going to pay them for their business, I'm contributing to their pay checks so it seems to me that your theory would be a little irrational.

No let me correct you. The large cup they had given me had coke running down the side of it, the top was not on (due to to much coke being in the cup) so when i pushed the top down so the whole lid wouldn't open coke went everywhere. This was not the first, second, or third time this has happened. And, there is a line inside of the cup that shows you how far to fill the drank up to. So to answer your question yes I really did call. I don't know about you but I'm not "cool" with sticky ### getting all in my car.

Stealth- Did you really say the only thing at fault was the meat? Wow we can tell you have never been in the food industry before. The whole store was at fault, if the store is filthy with nothing being cleaned and with being shorthanded and with having to argue to get FULL price on the UNDERCOOKED meat is freaking ridiculous. I would def. be calling corporate! That is not acceptable. I worked at Sonic for 3 years and we would always get mystery shoppers, you better believe everything was clean and in order down to the last drop of soda that got on the outside of the cup. OFCOURSE the employees didn't make the mess...why? Because it's THEIR job to clean it back up.

Burger King unhealthy bun choices

When are are the Fast Food companies going to arrive into the 21st Century with their choice of bread that their products are served on?

Our country's obesity problem is rampant. And yes many people and organizations blame the Fast Food companies. And those same Fast Food companies are indeed to blame for contributing to the obesity by not providing a Whole Wheat (or Whole Grain) alternative to the hamburger buns and muffins.

Someone needs to lead the Fast Food chains into the health wars and offer healthier choices such as Sweet Potato french fries and Whole Wheat hamburger buns.

Burger King their employees do not know the difference between clean and dirty

What I saw at a Burger King the other day made me wonder who trains their employees to know the difference between clean and dirty when they possibly have never been shown or taught prior to the present job. I may have realized too late, but noticed that someone had placed two of the big floor mats from the lobby and hung them over the hand rails where customers wait in line!

Burger King you should be able to request a kid toy without having to pay extra for the toy

I think if you order an adult meal for your child that qualifies for a kids meal, you should be able to request a kid toy without having to pay extra for the toy. I have three children and sometimes one or two of them will get kids meals and the others get adult meals. Well of course being kids they want a prize. When I have asked they say well you have to pay for it. Well I just paid for an adult meal for a child. This has happened many times at Burger King.

Burger King has to buy the toys, they have to sell the toys. The adult meal gets their moneys worth of food, the kid meals get much smaller portions of food. Thus the toy is included in the kids meal. Learn business before you crack on it.

Burger King suspended

Hi, I work at burger king and i'd like to let everyone know. Never apply to burger king for a job. Two weeks ago
I got into it with a employee. This employee is known for starting trouble on the job. I was so angry, I had ask if I could go home early. So I can cool down over the weekend, and i'll be back on monday. She had said yea ok. Now the next week I came back, my general manger did not ask me of any sort what happen on last friday. The third week on fri, another employee got into with someone else that worked in the front. The manger was in the office, I guess doing paper work. I was working on whopper board. They both started arguing, mind you i'm still working not even be involved. After a certain point of the argument, she decides to send him home. Later one of my friends come in to work at 4pm. He and I were talking and our conversation was between both of us. I had told him that so and so had got into it with so and so. And he was sent home. A half an hour later, another employee came in and said that you can go home. So I was thinking maybe i'm going home because it was slow for the moment or maybe I clocked to many hours. I thought nothing of it, clocked out and went home. I later on my friend which is the one who came in at 4pm. He text me saying why was I suspended from work. I had said I wasn't, I went home early. He stated, that my name was crossed out the whole week. He had told me she said she suspended two people and i'm one of them. I called to try to figure this out. I spoke to the manger, she said she is suspending me cause I called the person a ### that was arguing with my friend. I said no such thing, she insisted that I did. And also she said that I was responsible for what happen because I work in the back as well. She also said I am suspended because of the argument, which happen two weeks ago. The thing I don't understand is why was I not informed I was suspended, instead of sending home early and not telling me. Why didn't she suspend the person two weeks ago I was arguing with. What kind of world are we living in. I give anybody advice, do not work for burger king. Burger king treats people like crap. They don't appreciate good workers.

Burger King service

Ordered a veggie burger going through drive thru! Took 15 minutes, They take each order one at a time and serve them before taking the next order! OMG I finally got to the window and expressed how long it took nicely and the girl tells me she knows and turns and walks away like "oh well get over it"! I stopped going for about 3 months and thought well may the serve was better as I have complained other times with corporate, but apparently that was absolutely useless do so. The service is worse that ever and very unclean and don't give a damn staff!

Burger King raw food

I orderd a new pork sandwich drove 20min.home to find out it was so undercooked that it litteraly had a 3-4 inch bloody center! I was so outraged I drove all the way back to town to see if the boy that fixed this sandwich for me would like to eat it. He said NO Thank you. So I asked for a refund only to find out they have a (NO REFUND) policy! I nearly blew a gasket ! 4.06 sandwich, 15.00 gas, 1 hour of aggrevation, PRICELESS! Still hungry? Have it your way, what a joke! They took my hard earned money, but wouldn't return it? I don't want any free food period! Just $4.06

Burger King rat droppings!!!

Today I drove through the drive-thru at the Burger King on Lampson and Valley View in Garden Grove, CA. We got our food and took it home. My daughter was eating her fries and using catsup packages. She asked me to look at one of the packets. To my horror there was a big rat dropping stuck to this packet. I couldn't eat my hamburger and almost vomited! I tried calling this BK and no one will answer the phone! Why have a phone number! This isn't just a complaint, this is a health hazzard! I am discusseded and don't ever think I will darken the doors of BK again. It use to be our favorite place to eat!

I have been going to this Burger King Drive Thru for years, I usually order the #1 breakfast meal with no problems, but today I go and ask for a #1 and the young lady ask me what size coffee, I said small and notice the price was my usual $4.13, when I got to the window, the young lady hands me a large coffee and ask me for $4.40, I told her I wanted a small coffee, she told me that the coffee she gave me is now the small coffee and if I wanted the value meal size coffee, I should not have asked for a small coffee. WTF is that all about? She stated that this was the new way of doing things as for the past couple of months. I told her that this is a rip off and she has now loss my business. It is not the money, it is the way they went about it, dont make any sence to me, am I the only one who feels this way?

Burger King your commercial that shows two men dressed in white chasing the king and calling him insane is very hurtful

Your commercial that shows two men dressed in white chasing the king and calling him insane is very hurtful and promotes stigma to people who suffer from mental illness. I spend much of my time fighting this stigma and then your commercial sends the fight back 50 years. You should take this ad off the air asap and write something in a positive life for those that live with mental illness. Its sad to me that a company with good food needs to step to such a low level to sell food. I for one will not eat at BK until this is fixed or never again if it is not. I will also let others know of your insensitive ad and advise them of the same.

Burger King this is a clearly a case of reverse discrimination

I was recently in at a Burger King on Canal Dr. in Kennewick, Wa. I was waited on by a young Hispanic male whom I had a trouble understanding because his English was deplorable. As a looked around to ask for another assistant, I noticed that all the workers were Hispanic. It appeared that the manager was Hispanic as well. This is a clearly a case of reverse discrimination.

This location is an area of the city that is frequented by non-Hispanics as well. It is not primarily a Hispanic neighborhood.

I will be Boycotting this Burger King and others that do not have non Hispanics employed on every shift. The ratio of workers should be in accordance of to the population. Furthermore, if my grandson applies for a position at such a location and is rejected, the company better be ready for a law suite.

In my opinion, things have gone a little too far to accommodate Spanish speakers. 100% Hispanic employees is too many for any given shift.

What happened to learning English as German, Irish, Bosnian, and Vietnamese immigrants have done in the past?

Burger King they hire the worst individuals in the country to manage and work in their restaurants

I must say – part of BK’s obvious decline over the years has been your ability to find and hire the worst individuals in the country to manage and work in your restaurants. I live in the New Orleans Market and would have to say it’s near impossible to find a “clean” store with employees that share a good attitude with customers. (Almost every time I go, it seems they make an effort to let us know they’re ANGRY to have to serve us!) I would normally not take the time to do this, but on 02/19/2010, at store# 09939, in Metairie, LA, I was so shocked to see how the employees acted towards the customers in the drive through line. I just had to say something. We don’t want people like that handling our food! It’s scary!

Around 2:30pm, “Latisha” working the drive through, obviously could not keep up with the customers in line. There were issues with getting the food out to customers. “Latisha” according to my receipt, was rude to me sporting a very “ghetto” attitude cursing under her breath while giving me some kind of DEATH stare as I drove forward. The line in front of me, waiting on their food, had backed up enough for us to eat our entire meal in your parking lot. “Ghetto Latisha” came storming out with a bag in her hand for the first car blocking everyone in and she was stared them all down as she cursed aloud in front of them and their children. (This is not the first time I’ve seen this at your restaurants!) CRAZY - bottom of the rung employees! (These angry people should NOT be around food or customers!)

Save your business! Go back to hiring intelligent, high entergy people with a positive attitude! (COLLEGE STUDENTS WOULD BE WHO I would target!) It is working like a CHARM for Raising Canes! I look forward to going into their CLEAN-HAPPY restaurants!

I agree, the Burger King in Ankeny, Iowa on 1st street is the same. The Assisant Manager yells at the customers and when confronted about it says her bosses support her actions. What happened to the old way of doing buisness by the customers always right rule instead of fighting with them if the staff feels the customer is wrong. Why can't they just try to calm an upset customer down instead of upsetting them more? When did places start feeling that not every customer is important to them and that some of them can go some where else?

Burger King thieves for employees

I went through the drive through this morning and the employee who waited on me didn't give me my change but gave me my receipt. The person in the car with me witnessed her not giving the change. When I told her that she had not given it to me...she began to argue saying she did. Needless to say...I told her "you need to count down your register then". After being told to pull around until she did...10 mins. later...No one has come out to say anything. After going inside the manager told me the register wasnt over and that "we dont give back money like that"...Told her pull surveilance because money doesn't grow on trees. She told me she would call me after she checked. its 9 hours later now and I never received a call. And she's now off from work until Tuesday.

Please disreguard this letter, I just found my change, apparently instead of putting it in my purse I normally use I placed it in my wallet. Did not find out until after I wrote this letter. I went to buy some groceries and found out that she was right and had given me the change. Thanks for reading though.

Burger King the adult 'baby' campaign is so offensive, and so stupid

I'm not even sure that this is going to get to the right person, the one that can really make a difference, as you don't have an obvious 'customer-service' or 'customer response' email link on your main site. I'm sure that is contributing to your declining market share, of your substandard, failing franchise.

I am writing this email, and taking the extra time to find a contact address, because I think that your new commercials, featuring the 'adult baby' are so offensive, and so rediculous, that I will NEVER, EVER, again come to one of your franchises! What were you thinking, when you came up with this stupid, '###ed' concept for commercials? Are you suggesting that your customers are '###ed' adult babies?

I would have your entire advertising staff scrubbing toilets, and have the 'janitors' promoted to the marketing postions! How did you screw the pooch, so offensively, and so obviously? I'm sure that the janitors would do a much better job, creating new advertising campaigns!

The adult 'baby' campaign is so offensive, and so stupid, that I wish that there was more that I could do than just post a blog. . .

Shame on you for demeaning, and offending the entire nation, and demeaning us, in such a foolish, and absurd way!

She obviously couldn't hear you. I know you can understand this because you had to roll your window completely down to ask "What did you say?" which means you also couldn't hear her over the rain and your own engine. It's a damn shame when people are trying to make it easier for you to complete your own order and you ruin your own day because you refuse to understand the concept of patience. If this is the way you typically react, maybe you drink too much coffee and an afternoon without it probably did you a lot of good.

Burger King why are there no policies to wear plastic protective gloves

My concern is this. Why are there no policies in place in South Carolina requiring employees of Burger King (that actually handle food) to wear plastic protective gloves. We stopped at a Burger King yesterday at Tanger Outlets in Charleston area and our sandwiches were prepared with bare hands. One would hope that wearing protective gloves is a world wide requirement. We're originally from New York and all restaurants and supermarkets require employees use gloves when handling food. We threw the food away and will not be dining at any restaurant that doesn't take some precautions against the spread of infectious disease. It's disgusting. :-P

Burger King poor service and dirty conditions

My wife and I went to the Burger King located at 2435 25th Ave Greeley, CO 80634 for lunch on 12/23/09 (1 pm). The inside of the restaurant was very dirty, including the floors, and tables. The employee who took our order could barely speak English and had a very difficult time entering our order. It took 15 minutes for us to receive our order (eat in) which consisted of a Whopper Jr, Chicken Sandwich, 2 small fires and 2 small drinks. Both sandwiches were cold and not eatable. The girl who took our order assisted a customer who lost her keys in the trash. The employee helped dig through the trash with bare hands. Once the keys were found, the employee returned to her post and began to fill fry bags without washing her hands. A group of friends of the employees came in and hung out at the counter speaking very loudly in Spanish, laughing and goofing off. We were disgusted at the condition of the restaurant, the food was not eatable and seeing an employee dig though the trash and not wash her hands was disgusting. We will no longer visit this or any Burger Kings in the future.

Burger King i will never ever do business at this particular burger king

My aunt Terry sent this to me today. This is a true story that happened to her today (12/24/09). It will make you mad! Unbelievable that people could treat someone like this. What my aunt didn't mention was that this woman wasn't a teenager that worked at burger king, but a woman in her 40's, though it would be just as bad no matter what age she was. Please read this and pass it on. Thank you, Jeremiah Wilson

A lady came into our shop today to pay off her account. To let you know something about this ladies character I would like to share what I know of her. Our business provided a service to her this December 2009. On the date that she agreed to pay she came to the shop and said that she would not be able to pay at this time but that she would pay on her next pay day (December 24, 2009). She left and we surmised that we would never see her or our money again. (shame on us!) On December 24, 2009, true to her word she came to the shop and paid her account in full. She stayed for awhile and related this story with us. We realize that of course there are two sides to every story but I believe this person's account of what happened. I do not know this person at all so I will relate and my give opinion of the situation, you can make your own assumption of the situation.

It seems that at the Burger King on 4508 Yellowstone Avenue, Chubbuck, Idaho 83202 they had their annual Christmas party. It must have been a potluck, as everyone was suppose to bring something. This lady knew about the party, she showed up early by one half hour because she was suppose to work the shift that day. She was unable to bring anything for the potluck as she could not afford it.

She was told that she could not participate in the party because she had not brought anything to share. She was also told that she could not be loitering around waiting for her shift to begin. She was told to wait in her vehicle until it was time to begin her shift. She said that she went to her car and cried because she felt humiliated. This is not your typical teenager, I would guess her to be in her forties.

She came in to start her shift to find that the food was all locked up in the managers office. She completed her shift and prepared to leave. The manager opened the office and invited the rest of the employee's to share the left overs. This lady decided that she no longer wanted to be employed at this place of business and quit her job. ( I can't say that I blame her for that) She went in to pick up her check, I would guess at about 10:00 A.M. and was told that they could actually make her wait until 3:00P.M. if they wanted too. (she came to our place of business to pay her account at 10:30 A.M.

She really never said anything bad about her former employer, only that her feelings had been hurt over the party incident.

I guess that maybe I am a bleeding heart but I really wanted to know if it was really as bad as it sounded so I called Burger King and asked to talk with the manager, not the shift manager, the manager of the store. The person who answered the phone identified theirselve as "Linda"ans said that she was the manager. I identified myself by first and last name and asked her to do the same. She became very defensive and wanted to know what this was regarding. I began the story, she very abruptly and rudely said that she didn't want too, and would not discuss it with me, then she hung up on me. It really was none of my business but I just absolutely could not believe that this story could be this sad without some provocation. If she would have just talked with me the problem would have been resolved. NOW, I promise that I will NEVER, EVER do business at this particular BURGER KING.

Have a Merry Christmas and keep the reason for the season in your heart.

as sad as the story is, the manager is absolutely right. you had no business calling her up and demanding her full name over something that was nothing to do with you anyway. who the ### do you think you are?
